About Basedow Haus

We welcome you to celebrate 120+ years of history by experiencing all the contemporary comfort of our renovated home. Built circa 1900 by local German stonemasons as their family home, Basedow Haus has been completely revitalised.

The original stone fronted villa has been lovingly restored to provide all the charm of the past, together with a stunning extension to provide present day modern amenity and luxury.

Perfectly positioned overlooking the historic Chateau Tanunda, you will be able to experience the changing seasons of its vineyards.

Like the vines, our roots run deep with seven generations of local family history and traditions within the region.

About Us

Basedow Haus has been our passion since 2018 when we purchased the property after being charmed by a late autumn sunset over the vines and distant hills. We were attracted to the potential offered by this historic character home in such a picturesque locale within close proximity to all the amenities offered by the Barossa’s premier town.

Together with local architects, builders and trades we have poured much time, energy and attention into the restoration and transformation of the property to achieve a blend of traditional with modernity.

Basedow Haus is our legacy project to honour over 175 years of family heritage in the Barossa. We look forward to spending more time here with our family and friends and creating many more happy memories together. While we make the transition from city life to country living, we have been welcoming guests to come and stay at our country getaway since 2021.

Being inclusive and respecting diversity is our commitment. We expect you will enjoy all the style and contemporary comfort of Basedow Haus as much as we do, and experience a home away from home.

You can find out more about the local history and our family connections in a History Compendium at Basedow Haus.
